California Bound

The morning started early when E, M and C showed up to pick up their chauffer (Papa) to head to the airport.  I couldn't resist a quick snap of the camera.  Our boy was looking pretty cute in his ducky outfit complete with ducky shoes.

Then it was off to the test run before the flight to New Orleans and the Alabama-Rama next month.

The first text message reported a baby who slept the entire flight and was a smiley happy baby upon arrival as evidenced by the following pic.

The second text message didn't sound quite so happy!   No picture was attached but all of us who have been there know what that screaming face looks like.  Sending lots of good thoughts to great new parents on their first trip - hurry home!

Slacking and Packing

It really doesn't take much to send me running to hang out with Connor.  The Humms are all headed to Moraga, CA for a family reunion and Emily was bemoaning not having time to pack so I did a little slacking and went there instead of work!  Connor and I played dress-up - he patiently waited while I tried on several outfits to see if they fit him yet. Note the hangers in the crib!  The answer was NO - this boy needs to put on a little baby fat!

Finally, we quit trying on the fancy clothes and settled on some play clothes that were cozy for the chilly morning air.

Yes, Snappy, whatever you say.

He is only seven weeks old and he looks so grown up already!

We headed off for a little walk and some Snappy songs and then I left him cozy and asleep - what an awesome way to start the morning!

Proof of Practice

Yesterday I said Connor worked very hard on head control and rolling over.  No one but Emily, MJ and I believed that he did it at three weeks but we have proof of it at six weeks!

A perfect vacation day!

Would you call going to the dentist a vacation day?  Lucky for me...I was keeping Connor while Emily went to the dentist.  That called for a day off don't you think?

We started after a little show-off to the ladies at the dentist office and then we were off!

Then it was off to Snappy's to hang out for a while till Mom got done.

We took a walk...

Had some tummy time...

Check out that cute little smile...
We really worked on holding our heads up and rolling over!

And then fell asleep outside rocking in the swing.

When Emily showed up we were OFF for some power shopping.  The Humms are headed to a family reunion in Moraga, CA this weekend and Em decided it was time for a few post pregnancy summer items.  Connor slept and slept through our shopping spree.

Then it was home for dinner and a little Papa time.  Thanks for giving me such a great vacation day Connor and Emily!

Fred's belly provided the entertainment!

You know it is summer in Oregon...

Look out Disney, Dustin might just call this the Happiest Place On Earth - in the fields with a bucket full of raspberries!  Yesterday it was brews, today it was berries.  Add that to the over 90 degree heat and summer is finally here in Oregon!  As usual our baby boy slept while we picked the berries, watched the chickens, drank milkshakes, did a little shopping.

That chicken was trying to compete with Connor's hair do!

Brewfest and Babyfest

For those of you who don't live here, Portland is known as "Beervana", a city where microbrews are tops. Nothing is more about microbrews than the Oregon Brewfest. D & E, M & E and Fred all headed down to the Brewfest while I got to have almost four hours of Babyfest!

We started our adventure after a "top-off" from Mom and Connor was feeling very sleepy...

Snappy just kept on singing and pretty soon Connor was out.  It is not all that easy to take a picture of a sleeping baby with your phone while holding him and trying not to wake him.  This one was sent to his parents to show he was happy with Snappy and they could relax and have fun!

So, thinking I could get some laundry done, Connor went in his swing.

Which only lasted about an hour and when I picked him up he spit up all over him and me...too much top-off Mom!  So it was off to the bath and YAY, We got to pick out a new outfit! Connor wasn't thrilled.

So we went to listen to some music I put on my I-Pod for him.  He was fascinated and I proved that I really do not have this "using my phone to take a picture while holding the baby" thing down.

Papa says he looks like a troll when his hair is really wild..MEAN! I fluffed it up good after the bath.

Then it was tummy time...

And play time...

And sleep time...

I will take Babyfest over Brewfest anyday!  But from the pictures it looks like the rest of the family was having fun.  Fred is always happy with his girls on either side.

These parents don't look too worried do they?

Dustin even got revenge on Michael for an earlier picture I had posted on my facebook where Michael looked like he was the taller one.  These two boys say they are "brothers from another mother" and they do have some classic sibling rivalry going on!

How to keep a Snappy happy? Send her text messages at work!

I am always happy to hear the sound of my blackberry telling me I have a text.  Even in the middle of a meeting I can look down and see a new picture of Connor and smile.  This one was sent on Thursday, 7/22 with a story of baby poo that ended in a bath AND a shower for both Emily and Connor.  Seems he liked the shower!  Thanks for keeping me up to date, Emily!

Too busy to blog - ok, but too busy to babysit - come on!!

You know things are crazy for me when I can't even make it over to see Connor.  Thursday was Emily and Michael's 3rd anniversary.  Elizabeth and Dustin were supposed to babysit Connor but Uncle D had a bit of a cold and being the good uncle thought it might be better to stay away.  Elizabeth called Snappy to come and play but I was late, late, late at work and so tired I actually went home instead.  Besides, Connor was in perfect hands with Aunt Liz!

But never again will I miss the opportunity to see this face...

This picture is from Saturday...more about that to come!

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?

Long day at the office for me but Fred had already been home for a while working in the yard when our unexpected dinner guests arrived - Connor and Emily!  Thanks for playing softball Michael!

Love the view outside my kitchen window as Fred explains rose care to Connor.

A short walk to the ball field to see Michael's game...

Sound asleep for a while....

Then guess who is waiting for us at the field?  Grandma Susan and Grandpa Greg!

Where's the baby?

Emily and Michael decided they wanted to do a little anniversary shopping so Elizabeth rode her bike over to come stay while they were out...the first real separation for Connor and his 'rents except for that emergency room visit on day one.  Elizabeth sweetly called Snappy to come along and we had a great time -  as did Connor.  Emily and Michael had that panic feeling of "Where is the baby?  Did we leave something somewhere?"  And we won't even tell you how many times they called to check on us.  We did leave the phones behind while we were on our walk!

Connor watched his "animal friends" in his crib for a while - note the cute outfit, MJ, it fits him now!

We went on a walk which Connor loved for a while but then got carried home by Snappy because I thought he was cold!

Now he is happy looking like a little shepherd boy but he refuses to let his hands be covered up no matter how cold they feel.
