Aunt Liz and Uncle Dizz welcome Connor home and let the neighbors know he is here.

6/13/2010

Uncle D and Aunt Elizabeth used their creativity to welcome Connor home and announce his birth to the neighborhood. Thank goodness they are so artistic since the sign they bought at Michael's Crafts said "Gongratulations!" They will have to teach Connor how to make beautiful chalk drawings AND how to spell.

We snuggled them in and the little family of three climbed in for a nice snooze in their own bed. Connor loved it!

After nap time it was time to celebrate! Elizabeth and I brought dinner and Michael sabraged a bottle of Dom Perignon to celebrate. Greg brought Ryan and Sean along for their first look at their new nephew.

Home Sweet Home

The jacuzzi tub was nice, the nurses were super, but after one night Emily and Michael were ready for home, sweet home.  They checked out, loaded up and strapped Connor into the car seat for the first time and drove straight home to a brand new way of life.

Finally he is on his way...June 10th....no make that June 11th!

They were really trying for June 5th but since just about every baby in my family has been late, I figured this one would come on his own time - late. We thought for sure June 10th was the day - everyone stayed home from work but then all labor came to a halt.  Fred went to the dentist, Elizabeth went back to work, I headed to the financial planner and Michael borrowed the truck and went for a load of bark dust to do some yard work when Emily's water broke at 3:00.

While labor was hard and fast with no epidural, it was not fast enough to make the June 10th date. Instead Connor David Humm arrived at 12:31 am on June 11th weighing in at 7 lbs, 15.4 oz. and 20" long. I wasn't sure who needed more attention - Emily or Elizabeth who just looked stunned by the whole thing.  By 2:30 am the full room of people (doctor, nurse, pediatrician, Greg, Elizabeth, Dustin, Fred and me) all cleared out and Michael and Emily said they looked at each other and said "They left the baby with us!" Despite their exhaustion, I don't think they slept just looking at this beautiful boy.
