The Big Three O!
Yikes! Snappy is not so happy that all of her babies are now in their thirties! But there is nothing as fun as reliving that day thirty years ago when this little girl came bursting into our lives. We love you Emily!
And if she looks shocked - that is because there were some strange creatures about for the celebration.
Looks like the whole of creation is wishing Emily a Happy Birthday!

Papa's a Winner
Papa was betting that Holden would be the first in the emergency room. It was just a sliced finger on a can in the recycling but three stitches later he proved Papa won his bet.
I think G was almost more traumatized. He was so excited to get to mow with his daddy in the afternoon and then all of a sudden there was blood and everyone was running to get in the car and then Snappy showed up at the ER and swooped him away. Honestly, the child barely spoke until his parents and his brother showed up.
Be careful Holden! We don't want anymore of these trips!
Fireworks in May
While K was an angel and went right to bed with about three minutes of rocking, C was not quite as easy. Baths, books and stories and then it started. "I want my Mama and Dada." The last time this happened I just took him straight home, but this time his mama said she really wanted me to try to keep him. So when the crying started, I went downstairs so we wouldn't wake up Keagie. Papa instantly said "oh my! Connor you are never awake at my house in the dark - let's go outside and do some fireworks!"
Not a very good picture but C was fascinated. At the end, he said "Papa, we really should take fireworks to Black Butte" - too cute. That Papa - he knows that in this family, fireworks just make you happy. And he is always looking for an excuse to light some.
Elmo!
Holden is obsessed with his "nite, nite" and we all sometimes wonder how this happened. Snappy bought this little soft Elmo blankie a while back and from the first day, K was hooked and took it home. He asks for it when sleeping and riding in the car. Looks like we have two blankie boys.
Bike Riding
Snappy was thinking that we need to acquire a few riding toys for our house. This little bike was only $5 at a yard sale down the street. Yes it is purple and teal but hey, it was $5! G & H were over the day I got it and Papa had lowered the seat. These pics were taken before he got everything readjusted for C's long legs. But regardless, while he has gotten great at his Strider he thought this bike was pretty darn cool.
Watching his shadow ride down the street.
In only a few minutes he was off down the sidewalk at full speed and making his turn around in the neighbor's driveway.
Now, if we are going to have a collection of riding vehicles, I guess we better get those helmets!
Sleepover Fun!
Emily has a BIG birthday coming up and it seemed like a little dinner, movie and sleeping in was in order so guess who got to have a sleepover at Snappy and Papa's house! It was K's first time and he was one perfect angel.
A little frozen yogurt at dinner didn't hurt.
And Snappy's homemade donuts are always welcome in the morning. (Baked not fried, thank you Barefoot Contessa)
And at Snappy's there is always "special coffee" in the morning. Just a little steamed milk or in this case with a little chocolate! Drinking out of mama's Bunnykins cup makes it even yummier.
K is one hungry boy and drank lots of triple berry smoothie, eggs, strawberries, sausage, toast and a few dry Kicks. C, the boy who has no morning appetite, ate nothing.
Meat on a Stick
I think it must be in a man's genes to go for meat on a stick.
K only has four teeth but he was all over that chicken stick at the Farmer's Market.

Dozer Days
Such fun for Snappy and Papa (ok, so it was REALLY fun for Papa) to head to Vancouver for Dozer Days! This is a fundraiser for a foundation and the idea is that they open this rock quarry and have all this heavy equipment for the kids to "drive". I have never seen so many boys in muddy Carharts and jeans. You could ride in a dump truck to get into the quarry or just crawl on construction equipment and emergency vehicles..
And then came the lines...good thing we had Papa who is a patient line holder. C and K could go watch the equipment at work.
Go C Go! Driving a back hoe!
There were all kinds of other activities from coloring walls, to digging in pits, to climbing on BIG tires, to crawling through concrete culverts and plastic pipes. It was boy heaven.
Keagan was too little to "drive" but her could dig - they did have a pit filled with gems including a $6K diamond but it cost $2 per minute so Snappy just took K to the sandbox.
K was such a big boy ready to climb into pipes over and over!
And in the end, even if we are in a muddy gravel pit we can still have fun with some shave ice!
Tool Man
At least one of these boys is REALLY into tools. He is "in your pocket" the minute you are working on anything. Snappy bought a $5 bike at a yard sale down the street today and he was right there with a wrench ready to lower the seat. These pics are just a little play time in Papa's garage when his Daddy came to pick them up. Notice that Daddy is careful to keep that extra hand away from the cutting action.
If you are the faint of heart who thinks you have to sterilize everything or shouldn't allow kids near tools, just move on to the next post. (yikes - come to think of it, you might not really like the next one coming up either)
Anyway, this old tool set was bought when Elizabeth was a baby. It is imported from Poland where I guess they think it is ok to have pint sized REAL saws, drills and planers. Yes, that is an old rusty saw just Griffin's size. And he was a happy camper to saw a block of florist foam.
