Michael, Connor and Keagan built a rocket just like those of Michael's youth and it was time to see if it would fly. It is hard to tell from these pics but the beach from the house goes out about 40 yards and then the dune drops down about 15 feet to the beach at the shore. The whole crew made the trek.
Everyone was very interested in the set-up.
Love these CD & H in their "Scuba Steve" wetsuits.
Getting the rocket on the launch pad is serious business.
The gallery was ready.
Big boys and explosives!
Grandma Susan and Papa stayed up on the hill to watch for where the rocket landed.
Are you guys ready for the count down? FIVE...FOUR...THREE...TWO....ONE...
BLAST OFF!
Notice how perfect this landing was. It shot out way ahead of us and the wind carried it right back almost to where we were.
CA liked the show!
Rocket Burn on the launch pad.
How long until it is reloaded for the next launch?
Uh oh! Everyone took off running because launch #2 landed in the ocean!
See Michael out there. He was the fastest and saved the rocket! Emily looks like she was just intent on saving Keagan in the event he decided to head out to his daddy.
There were lots more rocket launches for the weekend and it seemed like our aim and the winds never worked in our favor quite like that first launch. In fact the last on of the weekend went so high and landed about a mile away in the ocean again but Michael didn't give up and found it. Ready to launch another day.
