St. Martin was a man who once gave his coat to a beggar in a snow storm and then had a dream that Jesus was wearing that coat. This led him to be baptized and become a monk spending his life in humility and helping the poor. Connor's class carried lanterns they made in a procession and then sang songs in German and English about St. Martin. The lanterns symbolized the light that holiness brings to the darkness as we head into the dark of winter, just as St. Martin lived the Gospel bringing hope to the poor through his good deeds.
Who is that little girl who slipped in up there? She looks like she knows she is not supposed to be there doesn't she?
